Glade of Fairy Tales Museum (Yalta)
The Glade of Fairy Tales Museum was founded in 1960 by Pavel Bezrukov.
This is a unique open-air museum, a magic world of fairy tales. It features over 200 sculptures made of wood, stone, copper, and other materials. The entrance to the fairy-tale city is guarded by Pushkin’s Thirty Goodly Knights with spears and shields. Further, visitors are met by Pushkin’s Learned Cat, a live pancake called Kolobok (from a Russian folk tale) rolls towards them, and Serpent the Treasure Keeper enchants with its glance.
Many other characters attract attention of visitors: Bazhov’s gracious Mistress of the Copper Mountain, Nightingale the Robber from an epic poem of Kievan Rus, kind Alyonushka and her brother the Little Goat, as well as Perrault’s Seven Dwarfs and many other "inhabitants" of this fairy-tale city.

In the vicinity of Yalta, on the picturesque glade surrounded the Crimean oak, hornbeam and Tara various shrubs, spread an unusual town. In its ancient attics, huts on chicken legs and just in a clearing in the shade of spreading trees, the stumps, along trails and a pond with goldfish live characters of fairy tales. Sculptors-professionals and craftsmen in his art revived the wood and stone, cold concrete and metal, and loved the people the heroes of fairy tales, re-born as early as the plastic images that came out to meet the audience to tell about good and evil, humanity and justice.
Protect this fabulous city with his knights marine Chernomorov uncle, all in the ancient helmets, spears and shields. They cordially invited to get acquainted with the inhabitants of the glorious town that is open to anyone who loves a story.

Sculptors are leading us further into the world of fairy tales. The image of the birds of Syria, which predicts the future, associated with the forest thicket, populated by folk legends, fantastical creatures. Sculpture fits well with the green surroundings of the forest.
In one of the fields are a family of bears. Upset Mishutka: someone ate bowls of it! But the good-natured calm parents and baby is transferred. The sculpture is made of concrete. Skillful use of the possibilities of this material, the use of larger planes make the whole composition of large-scale, generalized form.
In the tradition of ancient rezy Wood made a fantastic "Terem chamber’s." A special plasticity and expressiveness, and by careful handling of the material, modeling of form, surface polishing, has a sculpture "Alyonushka Ivanushka with her brother." Melodious rhythm of the lines shape gives it a special poetry. The image is endowed with great inner strength: it is transferred to the boundless sense of love, which is able to perform a miracle.
Impact on the viewer, to help him not only to recall the familiar characters, but also cause a profound aesthetic experience, exalted feeling, to get to reflect on the fact that each carries a fairy-tale image – a task set for themselves sculptors, referring to the epics and tales of how to source of creative inspiration.
Mighty Svyatogor, prophetic Bayan, resourceful Pinocchio, the good doctor Ajbolit – all these heroes embody the positive human qualities, created with great love and affection.
And what interesting means of expression are the sculptors to cause negative emotions in the viewer! Look at the person lazy, parasites, gossip, evil mistress, the Witch, Goblin, Nightingale-robber – hardly anyone will want to life like them!
But the fairy tale is always good triumphs over evil, and therefore in this fabulous town spirit reigns of good human feelings!
Ukraine is as much a country/culture to exploit as it has ever been. For Western Europe, the USA & other developed countries it is a resource like the Middle East, Africa, Asia. Their great empires have flourished by slavery, serfdom, Free Trade Zones… All history is vital. The global ‘I’ is a poetic notion which can only be realised by systemic change. Capitalism is still antithetical to Democracy. Shame on those writing in using terms like ‘?????’ or ‘?????’. Patriotism is not chauvinism.
While I commend Stech for attempting to delve into the forgotten roots of our culture, his politics are simplistic, if not dangerous. To characterise Western European culture as being something to aspire to due to its purportedly high ideals of the individual ‘I’ and the national ‘I’ (much less a global ‘I’) is ridiculous. The EU is so compassionate that it has become Fortress Europe. Western culture has ALWAYS functioned at the expense of exploitation of the majority (including its own).
